When Aaliyah Ordorica first stepped onto the Academia Preparatoria ASU Phoenix<\/a> campus as a freshman, the idea of graduating with a college degree seemed like a distant, perhaps impossible, goal.<\/p>\n

This year, that \u201cimpossible\u201d goal becomes reality.<\/p>\n

Aaliyah is one of almost two dozen seniors at ASU Prep Phoenix graduating with both her high school diploma and her Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Arizona State University. Her journey highlights how college prep programs, college credit opportunities and college-level coursework can help high school students accelerate their path toward higher education and future careers.<\/p>\n

This achievement follows the school\u2019s recent national recognition as ACT\u2019s 2025 School of Excellence<\/a>. ASU Prep Phoenix is the only school in Arizona and one of only 26 schools nationwide to receive the honor.<\/p>\n

Today, Aaliyah talks about the grit required to balance two worlds, managing high school responsibilities alongside rigorous college classes, and how a single project management course changed her career trajectory This year, the campus is celebrating a monumental achievement: being named <a href=\"https:\/\/asuprep.asu.edu\/espana\/noticias\/asu-prep-phoenix-among-the-nations-best-for-college-access-with-acts-school-of-excellence-designation\/\" target=\"_blank\">ACT\u2019s 2025 American College Application Campaign (ACAC) School of Excellence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Out of thousands of schools nationwide, only 26 earned this distinction, and <a href=\"https:\/\/asuprep.asu.edu\/espana\/phoenix-high-school\/\" target=\"_blank\">ASU Prep Phoenix<\/a> stands alone as the only recipient in Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of this success is school counselor Serina Trevino, a driving force behind the school\u2019s college-going culture who has spent the last four years helping high school students reimagine what is possible for their futures. We sat down with Trevino to discuss the grit of her students, the power of the Sun Devil network and why 23 seniors are about to make history by graduating high school with their Associate of Arts (AA) degrees from Arizona State
