ASU Prep and Felix Commonwealth Virtual School bring a new model of learning to Massachusetts
What happens when a high school is designed around the way students learn best? Recently featured by the Needham Observer, Felix Commonwealth Virtual School is bringing a new approach to public education in Massachusetts, giving students more flexibility, personalized support and ownership over their learning. The model was created by a unique partnership between Felix, Lasell University and ASU Prep. Amy McGrath, ASU Vice President of Educational Outreach and Managing Director of ASU Prep, believes, “This type of innovative school model is what families across the country are asking for.”
Rethinking the traditional high school experience
Felix is built for students who may be better suited to a learning experience outside the traditional high school model. Students complete core academics through a personalized, self-paced online platform while receiving support from Massachusetts-certified teachers and participating in weekly live instruction.
A key part of the model is the relationship between each student and their Learning Guide. These educators get to know students personally, understand what motivates them and champion their progress throughout their time at Felix.
The model also opens new pathways to college and career. Through a dual enrollment pathway powered by Arizona State University, students who demonstrate academic readiness can earn college credit while still in high school, with those courses paid for by ASU Prep.
