Remington Fenn rides toward his future with grit, goals and a global classroom

Remington Fenn

Remington Fenn knows what it feels like to hold on tight, stay focused and ride through uncertainty. Whether he’s on the back of a bull or working through his online coursework, that same mindset carries him forward: Stay balanced, keep your eyes ahead and don’t let go of your goals.

A student at Global Academy at ASU Prep and a competitive bull rider, Remington is building a future that blends passion, discipline and determination. With a scholarship offer to ride bulls at New Mexico State University and plans to graduate high school ahead of schedule, he’s proving that success isn’t about choosing between school and sports. It’s about mastering both.

Holding on to a dream

Remington’s journey began in a brick-and-mortar school, but he quickly realized that a standard schedule couldn’t keep up with the demands of competitive rodeo.

Traveling often means being away for 3–4 days at a time, making it difficult to stay on track in a conventional classroom setting.

That’s when he found Global Academy.

With the flexibility of online learning, Remington found a way to stay in the saddle academically while continuing to compete at a high level. Instead of falling behind, he surged ahead, moving quickly through courses, staying motivated and keeping his long-term goals firmly in sight.

When Remington and his family started to notice that schools were taking interest in his talent in bull riding, he knew it was time to buckle down and get serious about school. He and his family made a goal for him to earn his high school diploma and be ready for the higher education that was being offered to him.”

A student-athlete mindset

Remington earned acceptance to New Mexico State University, where he plans to compete on the rodeo team, and he received a scholarship to support his journey.

Being on a team will be a new experience, but Remington is ready for it. He’s looking forward to being part of something bigger, learning from other riders and continuing to grow both in and out of the arena.

But ask him what matters most, and his answer is immediate: Being a student comes first.

His advice to others? Prioritize your education. Because the arena may be where you shine, but the classroom is what sets you up for the long ride ahead.

Currently, his favorite subject is anatomy and physiology, a natural fit for someone considering a future in pre-med or veterinary studies. The interactive lessons keep him engaged (which, for someone used to 8 seconds of pure adrenaline, says a lot) and the relevance to his career goals makes learning feel purposeful.

“The classes are cool and make learning more fun,” he says.

Equally important is the support system behind him.

“Teachers are super nice and very helpful. If you need anything, you can get a hold of them quickly.”

For a student balancing travel, competition and coursework, that accessibility makes all the difference.

The thrill of the ride

Bull riding isn’t for the faint of heart. It demands courage, control and a willingness to face the unpredictable.

When asked what it takes, Remington laughs.

“Yeah, courage … and maybe a little stupidity,” he jokes. “But also motivation.”

It’s that motivation and the adrenaline that keeps him coming back.

That drive has taken him far. Remington has qualified for the Junior National Finals Rodeo four times, competing against hundreds of athletes from around the world. In one of those appearances, he earned the Reserve World Champion title, placing second overall in his division on a global stage.

It’s an achievement that reflects not just talent, but resilience. Because in bull riding, no two rides are ever the same.

Each bull is different. Each moment is unpredictable. And no matter how prepared you are, there’s always an element of the unknown.

It’s the thrill of the unknown and his unbridled passion for learning that will set this bull-rider up for a lifetime of success.

It’s just a feeling that I like to chase,” he explains. “When you make a good solid ride and your buddies are cheering you on, it’s a satisfying feeling. I love that.”

Turn passion into purpose, on your student’s terms

In bull riding, the goal is simple: stay on for 8 seconds. In life, the ride is longer and the stakes are higher.

Remington Fenn is proving that with the right mindset, the right support and a clear goal, it’s possible to ride out both proudly, with his head held high. At Global Academy, students don’t have to choose between their goals and their education. With flexible, immersive learning, concurrent college credits, dedicated teachers and pathways built around real lives, students like Remington are able to stay on track, no matter where their journey takes them.
