Let It Snow at ASU Prep Phoenix: A Family-Friendly School Event to Remember

Let it Snow event

On Friday, December 12, ASU Prep Phoenix welcomed dozens of families, students and neighbors to campus for its third annual Let It Snow celebration.

Designed as a free, family-friendly school event, Let It Snow brought the school community together for a winter evening filled with fun, connection and a little bit of magic. From snowy activities and festive treats to an unforgettable drone racing experience, the night was all about spending time together and celebrating what makes ASU Prep Phoenix feel like home.

A winter night made for families

Let It Snow has become a favorite tradition at ASU Prep Phoenix — a chance for families to slow down during the busy school year and simply enjoy time together. The event invites the surrounding neighborhood onto campus, creating a welcoming space where students, parents and staff can connect outside the classroom.

For some families, it’s a night to catch up with friends. For others, especially those exploring back-to-school options, it’s an opportunity to see ASU Prep in action and get a feel for the community that supports students from elementary through high school.

An unexpected highlight of the night

One of this year’s biggest highlights was the Major League Drone Racing experience. ASU Prep’s football field was transformed into a glowing racecourse, complete with lit obstacles and racing chairs, as five competitive drone pilots went head-to-head.

Families gathered along the sidelines, cheering through each heat. In the final race, Open Class World Champion Hatter was edged out by Wildtype, who took home the championship belt — capping off a thrilling moment that had kids and adults alike talking long after the last drone landed.

Local partners supporting our families

Let It Snow also included a community resources area, where families could connect with local organizations offering support and services throughout the year. Representatives from Chicanos Por La Causa, Not My Kid, Choice Dental, HealthCorps and Mountain Park Health were on hand to share information and answer questions.

These partnerships reflect ASU Prep’s belief that supporting students means supporting families, too.

Looking ahead to what’s next

This year’s Let It Snow marked the final time the event will be hosted at ASU Prep Phoenix’s current Fillmore campus. As the school prepares to open its new location in Fall 2026, excitement is already building around new spaces, possibilities and ways to come together.

While the setting may change, the heart of the event and the community behind it will remain the same.
