student who began taking Arizona State University Universal Learner Courses in just sixth grade. With a perfect 4.0 GPA in her college coursework and five college courses she’ll complete by the end of Fall 2025, she’s proving what’s possible with dedication, curiosity and the right support Students are getting acclimated, teachers are learning their rosters, and we\u2019re all getting to know one another as we settle into our groove.<\/p>\n<p>A heartfelt thank you to the 250 people who joined us Friday night for an evening of food, fun, and games at the Back to School Kick Off. Ms. Marino, Mr. Herrera, and our amazing StuCo students made sure the night ran smoothly and offered a little something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re also grateful to our club advisors and students for showcasing their clubs, answering questions, and welcoming potential new members. the Desk of Principal Emma Popish: Summer 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p2\">Hello ASU Prep Poly Families!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">I hope you\u2019re enjoying a relaxing and fun summer! While our Poly teachers and students have been away, the Poly admin and front office team have been hard at work preparing for the new school year. Summer school just wrapped up, with many students seeing success from their efforts. Classroom moves are underway, and we\u2019re excited to introduce you to a small handful of new teachers joining us this fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">We\u2019ve also been busy clearing things out and sprucing up the campus so that ASU Prep Poly is nice and shiny for the new school year. Our ASU Prep Network team has been hard at work installing new hardware, resetting technology, and\u2014yes\u2014getting those Devil\u2019s Den doors working again! Huge thanks to our amazing PTSO for supporting this important task. We can\u2019t wait for cooler weather to roll around so we can open those doors once again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">As we prepare for an exciting 2025\u20132026 school year, please take note of these important dates and details to help you and your students get ready:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s2\">\ud83d\udcac <\/span><b>Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) Conferences & Resource Fair<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\">ILP Conferences will be held on <b>Monday, July 28 (9am-5pm) <\/b>and <b>Tuesday, July 29 (10am-6pm)<\/b>, and conducted with your child\u2019s Innovation Lab 1 (7\/8) or Seminar (9-12) teacher. These conferences are <b>mandatory for all families <\/b>and provide an opportunity to set goals and discuss academic plans for the year. Students will also receive their <b>2025\u20132026 course schedules <\/b>at this time! Be on the lookout for a communication from your assigned teacher the <b>week of July 14, <\/b>and then the ILP sign-up link, which will go live on <b>July 18<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">During ILPs, we will also host a <b>Resource Fair<\/b>, where families can access valuable information about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Health Center Resources<\/li>\n<li>Student Sports & Clubs<\/li>\n<li>Lunch Catering & Menus\n<ul>\n<li>Free and Reduced Lunch Applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Family Choice Friday Options<\/li>\n<li>Counseling Support\n<ul>\n<li>Academic<\/li>\n<li>Social Emotional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>PTSO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\">This will be a great opportunity to get connected and gather resources for a successful school year!<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\ud83d\udcc5 <\/span><b>First Day of School<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\">The first day of school for all students is <b>Thursday, July 31<\/b>. We can\u2019t wait to welcome everyone back to campus! Our first day will focus on building community and setting expectations for the year ahead. Students will follow their regular schedules while participating in fun and engaging activities to get to know their classmates and teachers. They\u2019ll also receive their <b>school-issued Chromebooks <\/b>so they\u2019re fully prepared for the first full week of school beginning Monday.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\ud83d\udce3 <\/span><b>Communication for the 2025\u20132026 School Year<\/b><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\">Staying connected is important to me! This year, <b>all school-wide communication will move to the Smore platform<\/b>. I will be sending out <b>weekly newsletters <\/b>that will include updates, reminders, event highlights, and important campus news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">You\u2019ll receive the newsletter each week via <b>email<\/b>, and it will also be accessible at any time on the <a href=\"https:\/\/asuprep.asu.edu\/poly-high-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>ASU Prep Poly STEM High School website<\/b><\/span><\/a>. My goal is to make communication streamlined, consistent, and easy to access for all families. I\u2019m excited for this new format and can\u2019t wait to share all the incredible things happening on campus. gave more than 3,000 students, spanning grades 7\u201312, a hands-on introduction to the world of semiconductors, inspiring future career paths in this rapidly growing industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Held at ASU Prep <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asuprep.asu.edu\/phoenix-high-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Downtown course in June on circuit bending for neurodivergent students 14 to 20 years of age. Students will get $200 for taking the course and will have the opportunity to work as a community educator in summer circuit bending pop-up events, in which they can also earn more money. For more information and to apply for the program, please visit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glitchn.net\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">https:\/\/www.glitchn.net\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Graduates of the course can join NYCE, a community of young educators who lead pop-up events, gain industry connections, access internship opportunities, and qualify for even bigger stipends.<\/p>\n<p>Glitch’n Summer Courses will take place at the ASU MIX Center in downtown Mesa. Three courses will be offered during the month of June:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>June 16 – 20 | 2:30 – 5 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>June 23 – 27 | 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>June 23 – 27 | 2:30 – 5 An Ottawa University undergrad and Northern Arizona University Master\u2019s graduate, she is an experienced educator and coach.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Grunewald\u2019s superpower is connecting people and fostering cohesive relationships toward shared goals. She is eager to collaborate with teachers to enhance student engagement through Project-Based Learning. Laura resonates with Benjamin Franklin\u2019s quote, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Dr. Cartwright has implemented Project-Based Learning, standards-based grading, and mastery learning scales to boost student engagement and success.<\/p>\n<p>Excited to be a Transformational Teacher Leader, she aims to cultivate a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Her extensive experience across all K-12 grades gives her a unique perspective on vertical alignment, and she is committed to helping students and teachers learn and grow together.
