ASU Prep among Yass Prize organizations awarded $4M+ to expand education options in Texas
ASU Preparatory Academy was selected as one of 11 Yass Prize alumni for the Texas Education Freedom Award, a $4M+ initiative created to scale proven education models across the state. After a rigorous review process, Yass Prize alumni were awarded funding that will position them to launch or expand innovative school models in 2026—meeting the needs of even more Texas students.
A big win for families in Texas
The Yass Prize’s Texas Education Freedom Award backs organizations ready to expand access and choice as Texas implements its Education Savings Account (ESA) program. The award was created to accelerate the growth of new opportunities for students and meet the growing demand from families seeking better options in the Lone Star State.
ESAs give eligible families state funds for approved education expenses, increasing access to learning options that fit their needs. The Texas Education Freedom Award is designed to help high-performing providers meet that demand beginning in 2026, as Texas rolls out the most expansive ESA in the nation.
The Yass Prize, powered by the Center for Education Reform in partnership with Forbes, has since 2021 worked to find, reward, celebrate and expand best-in-class education organizations for every sector.
