Our K–12 curriculum at ASU Preparatory Academy helps students build:

  • Foundational knowledge and confidence for further study
  • Learning skills to be able to read, write and speak clearly and accurately
  • Critical thinking skills to observe, interpret and analyze information
  • Problem-solving skills while interpreting and communicating results

Our core curriculum is designed to be accessible for all children, while the extended curriculum challenges and inspires highly capable, highly motivated students. Explore a wide range of personalized courses that prepare every student to succeed in college—and beyond.

Personalized Learning

ASU Prep’s K–12 curriculum offers personalized learning environments that meet the needs of all learners and prepare them for college, careers and life.

Student-centered learning environments help students strengthen executive functioning skills, collaborate in small and large groups and build independence. Personalized learning also allows students to revisit standards they may have missed, ensuring a strong academic foundation.

Individual Learning Plans

We believe in planning for positive outcomes. That’s why each ASU Prep student creates an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) to guide their learning for the school year and support student agency. ILPs encourage students to explore their interests, learning styles and academic goals while building habits of success. Families, teachers and counselors collaborate with students to review ILPs regularly, ensuring growth and support every step of the way.

  • What makes me special? (Identity)
  • What do I like to do? (Interests)
  • What do I want to learn at school? (Academic Goal Setting)
  • How will I do my best every day? (Habits of Success)

Personalized Courses

Every ASU Prep K–12 course provides opportunities for students to receive the level of challenge that fits their goals.

College-prep and honors-level assignments are built into each class. Teachers utilize rubrics to help foster student agency and expectations of excellence in work submitted, and every student has an opportunity to earn a weighted grade. Students are encouraged to stretch their learning, demonstrate excellence and prepare for advanced academic success with college-level assignments—all while meeting Arizona standards.

College-Going Culture

ASU Prep fosters a college-focused environment where every student is encouraged to aim high. We welcome students as Sun Devils from day one, giving them a head start before they finish their high school diploma with us.

We partner with ASU in our commitment to access and excellence, take fundamental responsibility for the students and communities we serve and believe all students, regardless of their backgrounds, can achieve at the highest levels. That’s why we offer students early access to ASU courses, personalized learning and strong college and career pathways that prepare them to succeed at ASU and beyond.

College Courses

ASU is committed and has partnered with ASU Prep to bring college-level courses to our high school students. While in high school, ASU Prep students can take two to four college-level courses per year with tuition paid by ASU Prep. Our students can graduate with at least 48 tuition-free ASU credits, though some take more. Two options are available:

  1. Universal Learning®️ Courses: College-level courses where students decide at the end whether they would like to transcript the course for ASU academic credit.
  2. Concurrent Courses: Students can take any ASU course in the course catalog, with the final grade automatically reflected as ASU academic credit.

Students will work with their counselor to create an academic plan to make the most of these opportunities

Gifted Education

At ASU Prep, our S.U.N. Squad helps students shine bright. This dedicated team supports our gifted program and helps advanced learners go further, faster and deeper in their education journeys. Students build critical thinking skills and explore ideas with greater depth and complexity through:

  • Gifted cluster classrooms
  • Enrichment with specialists
  • Project-based learning
  • Personalized acceleration

Grounded in strategies that explore depth, novelty, pacing and independent study, our approach supports students in reaching their full potential.

Families with incoming kindergarten students can also opt into summer gifted testing to identify early learners and connect them with specialized support from the very beginning.
