Microschool Programs

Which Microschool option is right for your student?

Use the following chart to identify and learn more about the various hybrid learning options ASU Prep offers.

ASU Prep Local

This option is geared toward high school students interested in building community and interpersonal skills with their peers. This program enhances the ASU Prep Digital experience with in-person collaboration, discussions and project-based learning in a small group setting on a college campus.

  • Eligibility: ASU Prep Digital students in grades 9–12
  • Commitment: Year-long hybrid program
  • Schedule: 2 day/week in-person
  • Location: ASU West, ASU Tempe and the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) center in Mesa

ASU Prep Experience

This option was designed for high school students looking to experience a real college campus and explore degree paths and career options. This experience includes faculty-supported workshops focused on real-world learning and opportunities to collaborate and connect with ASU faculty.

  • Eligibility: ASU Prep Digital students in grades 9–12
  • Commitment: Semester-long, half-credit high school Honors Elective
  • Schedule: 1 day/week in-person
  • Location: An ASU college campus location, rotates every semester (TBD Spring ’24)

ASU Prep Hybrid

This option was designed for students to work through course curriculum and content at home and in person with teacher support. Students participate in project-based learning in a small group setting with the help from a Personalized Learning Advisor to ensure they are meeting learning goals while on an ASU Prep comprehensive school campus.

  • Eligibility: ASU Prep immersion students enrolled at Poly Elementary (3rd-6th) or at Downtown Phoenix (9th-12th)
  • Commitment: Year-long hybrid program
  • Schedule: Elementary meets three days/week in person; High School meets two days/week in person
  • Location: Elementary meets at ASU Prep Polytechnic; High School meets at ASU Prep Phoenix

Elementary Learning Pods

Learning Pods are a great way for young online students to connect and collaborate. These family-driven groups offer the opportunity for studying, socializing, and engaging in fun activities with classmates. Each pod is unique with some involving in-person field trips and park meet-ups, while others host virtual movie nights and Zoom games.

  • Eligibility: ASU Prep Digital students in grades K–5
  • Commitment: None
  • Schedule: Determined per individual Learning Pod
  • Location: Various locations by neighborhood, state, and common interests
