Blending tradition and ambition: Halle Johnson honors her heritage while pursuing her dreams

Halle Johnson, a standout graduate from ASU Preparatory Academy South Phoenix, is chasing her dream of becoming a travel nurse while also proudly carrying forward the traditions and values of her Navajo culture.

Halle’s connection to her cultural heritage runs deep. As a proud member of the Red Bottom People clan and born for the Black Sheep clan, she embraces her identity wholeheartedly. This was evident during her high school graduation when she wore traditional attire beneath her cap and gown, paying tribute to her family and community.

With 22 college credits already under her belt, Halle starts Arizona State University as a sophomore. She’s eager to dive into her studies at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, with dreams of exploring places like Spain and Switzerland as a travel nurse.

During her time at ASU Prep, Halle Johnson excelled academically and demonstrated strong leadership, embracing various roles that showcased her commitment and diverse talents. As she transitions to ASU, Halle aims to continue her active involvement. She looks forward to joining the Alliance of Indigenous Peoples at ASU to celebrate and honor her cultural background.
