ASU Preparatory Academy is pleased to welcome Junius Yates to the team. In the education field since 1999, Yates has held a variety of leadership positions: teacher, principal, administrator, and dean of students. His passion and talent for educating and working with children began at a young age, from tutoring younger students in elementary school and teaching at Sunday school. Yates credits his mentor for the “lasting effect” on his pursuit of becoming an educator.
Yates is a “reflective practitioner,” that is, one who examines his/her technique and finds a way against all odds to reach the youth of today in an effective manner.
“I grew into this career and continued to focus on the urban need for black male role models,” he said. “My goal is to take education to the next level, making a difference in the challenging circumstances of today.”
Yates received his bachelor’s degree in education from Alabama State University, and has a master’s in educational leadership and administration from National Louis University.
