Just announced: Phoenix Collegiate Academy (PCA) is merging with ASU Preparatory Academy to become ASU Prep South Phoenix-PCA, effective July 1, 2018. The school will continue to serve students in grades PreK-12 in existing PCA facilities. Through this merger, ASU Prep South Phoenix-PCA will provide more students with a college preparatory experience that demonstrates all students, regardless of their backgrounds, can achieve college success.
“I’m thrilled for Phoenix Collegiate Academy to become part of the ASU Preparatory Academy network of schools,” said Akshai Patel, Co-Founder and CEO of Phoenix Collegiate Academy. “When my co-founders and I launched PCA almost 10 years ago, we aspired to build a seamless path to college for our students. While that may sound straightforward, it hasn’t been easy to build a school from scratch, grow our vision to include preK-12 with alumni support, and achieve a success rate of 80% of our graduates persisting in colleges and universities. ASU Prep will give us meaningful support to take our vision and give it deeper inroads toward college attainment and success. We’re flattered that ASU sees PCA as a worthy partner – it’s clear acknowledgement of our success to this point. This partnership is going to supercharge what’s possible in our community.”
PCA brings a record of success with college admission and persistence, grittiness from tackling the most difficult challenges, and its deep commitment to the South Phoenix community. ASU Prep brings a strong curriculum, success at our campuses across communities and online, and the benefit of being chartered by Arizona State University. ASU, named the most innovative university in the nation for the third consecutive year, measures itself not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed.
ASU Preparatory Academy shares and advances this commitment by demonstrating all students can achieve at the highest levels, regardless of socioeconomic status. Our mission is to provide premium environments for learning, helping all students become innovative leaders and problem solvers who are prepared for success in college and their preferred careers.
“This new expansion will directly impact our ability to increase college attainment for students of all socio-economic backgrounds,” said Beatriz Rendón, CEO of ASU Preparatory Academy and Vice President of Educational Outreach and Student Services at ASU. “PCA is an established anchor in South Phoenix. The merger with ASU Prep will enable ASU Prep South Phoenix-PCA to make even greater contributions not just to the school but to the broader South Phoenix community.”
